Overcoming alcohol addiction and drug abuse is not impossible. There is a difference between stopping and quitting.

Quitting Forever: Knowing You Want to End it.

Rational Therapy and Recovery, located in Reno, Nevada, offers Quitting Forever as an option because the option exists.  If you check out self-help groups and recovery treatment help, you find they are talking about joining them with on-going activities you do to control your use or to remain abstinent. Click the HELP GROUPS tab on the left to find links to various groups you can join to provide you with support and a variety of ways for controlling use or in gaining and maintaining abstinence. Rational Therapy supports all these approaches and shows a way to go beyond them if want to be sure you will never use alcohol and drugs again by quitting forever.

Pragmatic Absolutes

Rational Therapy and Recovery is committed to how you know what you know. The quest is to use observation and experience to understand every alternative conceivable.  Including all alternatives of what is possible in a menu also provides the power to say you will have to pick one of the alternatives because since every possible alternative is on the menu, picking one of the available alternatives is unavoidable.  Once an alternative is taken, we can talk about outcomes and ramifications of following the path taken.  There is never any restriction on one changing the path unless it is undoable. Thus, limitations are always environmental or personal.  When it comes to using alcohol or drugs, the absolute truth is 1) you will use them again, or 2) you will not use them again.  There is no other possibility.  So, part of the Quitting Forever web site is laid out as a journey you can enter in to explore the outcome and ramification of each path.  Unlike pragmatic absolutes, outcomes and ramification are only a probability that has a chance of happening or not happening. None of us knows all the long term results of anything that we do consistently.  Click on the CHOICES tab in the left sidebar to go to the different doors you can enter to begin your unavoidable journey.  You can avoid viewing alternatives, but you cannot avoid taking one of the alternatives because they are pragmatic absolutes. You can end your journey and stop choosing by quitting forever.

Try Everything

Have you tried quitting forever to solve your alcohol and/or drug problem?  You lived with drinking and using.  You tried limiting your use to keep it under control.  You tried stopping.  Your stopping was for one day, one week, ninety days, or maybe you stopped without saying how long.  Stopping is similar except for the time specified.  You tried recovery groups.  You were in treatment for alcohol and drugs.  If you are still drinking and using, have you tried quitting forever? Quitting forever means you will control your hands and not put alcohol and drugs into your body because you quit. You are not involved in reasons although you may be aware of them in your mind.  Quitting forever means you will be mindful of how you feel when want to drink or use and do not do it.  Alcohol and drugs are not your problem now because they will just be present.  What you are mindful of is how you feel when you want to drink or use and do not do it. That is what you are living with.  If you are trying to make the feeling vanish, you are not living with it but instead battling the feeling.  That is way you keep losing.  You keep battling.  There is another way.

Recovery Groups and Methods to Control Your Use

HELP GROUPS in the side bar are included so you can try everything if you want.  Quitting forever is not about joining but something that may fit what you are seeking.  Quitting forever is not in competition with other choices.  This is about you and what fits for you and what you want to happen.  None of this is easy, but the hardest thing about quitting forever is deciding you have quit forever.  Deciding you have quit forever means you no longer will try to control you drinking your drug use because you do not use.  You may be mindful of thoughts and feelings to control your use because they no longer matter. Quitting forever is not a spiritual journey because you are already there.  You accept all the thoughts and feelings you have without using alcohol or drugs.

Everything and Nothing Works

All recovery groups and methods work if they work for you.  If they do not work, then no recovery group or treatment will help you.  You have thoughts and feelings to continue you drinking and drug use but they do not control your hands directly.  Thoughts and feelings seem to control your hands but the control is an illusion and not a direct control.  Quitting forever is seeing you thoughts and feeling to drink and use for what they are and not looking through them which makes you involved in the meaning of your thoughts and feelings.  Your thoughts and feelings about drinking and drugging do not mean what they tell you.
